Terminology
Guides use one canonical term per concept. Where the screen shows a different label, the screen wins in the click steps and the other wording is listed here as an alias — so a search for either finds the right guide.
| Concept | Canonical term | Also called |
|---|---|---|
| Start of attendance | Punch In | Check In, clock in |
| End of attendance | Punch Out | Check Out, clock out |
| Correcting a missed or wrong punch | Attendance Regularization | regularization, fix a punch, attendance correction |
| The workspace picker | Switch work area | workspace switcher, my work area |
| Personal workspace | My Work | employee self-service |
| Admin workspace | Administration | admin, people operations |
| Operations workspace | Workplace Operations | helpdesk, assets, documents |
| Recruiting workspace | Recruiting | Hiring |
| Attendance area inside a workspace | Time & Attendance | Time & Attend |
| Employee directory | All Employees | employee list, employee directory |
| Pre-payroll check | Readiness check | pre-run gate, payroll readiness check |
| File that pays staff | Bank salary file | bank file, salary CSV |
| One payroll cycle | Pay run | payroll run, payroll process |
| Reusable pay definition | Salary template | components and templates |
| One employee's applied pay | Salary structure | salary details |
| The nine areas | Module | workspace, work area |
Two conventions worth stating
"Module", not "workspace". The nine areas are called modules throughout this help centre. The product's own UI calls the switcher Switch work area, so that label is kept in the click steps.
Salary template vs salary structure. A template is reusable and defined once under Payroll settings. Applying it to a person produces that person's salary structure. See Components and templates and Salary details.
