Glossary
What each term means inside Ninerole. For payroll especially, whether a step can be undone matters as much as the definition.
Calculate — generates the payroll amounts for review. Nothing is locked yet.
Finalize calculation — completes the calculation stage. Amounts are settled for the run, but the run itself is not closed.
Finalize payroll — locks the pay run and its payment details, and closes it. Treat this as not casually reversible; confirm before you finalize.
Bank salary file — the CSV produced from a finalized run. You upload it to corporate net banking to actually pay people. Ninerole generates it; the upload happens in your bank's portal.
PF ECR — the provident-fund contribution file the run produces for statutory upload.
Form 138 — the current salary-TDS quarterly return.
Readiness check — the gate before a pay run. It confirms salary structures, payslip templates and employee salary data are in place.
Attendance Regularization — the request an employee submits to correct a missed or wrong punch. A saved punch cannot be edited directly; it goes to a manager for approval.
Geofencing / field check-in — GPS-verified attendance for field staff, tied to an allowed location.
Business unit — an organisational grouping employees are assigned to, used across hiring, people and reporting.
KRA and KPI — in Performance, a Key Result Area is an objective and holds KPIs, the measured metrics. KRA weights total 100%, and KPI weights total 100% within their KRA.
Pay period — the month or cycle a pay run covers.
This glossary defines what the Ninerole feature does. It does not state statutory rates, ceilings, eligibility or deadlines — those change over time and live on ninerole.com/resources or with your consultant. See the AI answer policy.
